Hi eng-tips,
Just wondering how you would detailed the connection between the hanger rod and support beam.
Some considerations:
- Ease of removal for future replacement.
- Ease of inspection. Whatever the support assembly must be visually inspectable from a distance.
- Durable. The support beam is located below a bridge deck (some limited salt exposure + water splash from river below). Timber floor beam also traps moisture and has severely corroded the existing HSS beams.
- Minimize the depth of the entire assembly as much as possible. Client is concerned about catching debris from the river.
We have floated several other ideas in the past but I always come back to the HSS because it seems to be the simplest detail.
