Hi,

I am planning on using the Harting Han Axial Screw Contact Module (refer
I have never seen one and I am not sure if there has to be another part ordered to hold the male and female parts together. I looked up online and there are multiple options.

Will the connector system not work properly without the frame or hood? Does anyone have experiences?

Thank You!

You need the frame plus either a backshell for cable mount or a chassis mount. The HAN connectors are generally OK although if there is any movement on the cable the axial screw type clamp can work loose, where the equivalent crimped type are unaffected. Depends on the application - we saw a few difficulties with a cable of around 16mm². You get better results if you carefully ensure that the axial screw is centred in the bundle of conductor strands but this is a little tricky and time-consuming, and again the crimp-type doesn't present any difficulties.

You need the hood/frame for mechanical securement..
Its not intended for an inline free hanging connector..

Try Anderson Power for similar that could be used inline.. or contact Harting and I'm sure they would be more than happy to answer all your questions and provide recommendations.
