I'm taking the CA Civil PE Exam in April and I was wondering if anyone has had experience with Dr. Mansour's live review course in Orange County. I'm also looking into PPI's course and UCLA extension. Thanks!

cal poly used to have a good course and I believe Caltrans also sponsors one

PPI2Pass online stuff was the best review material for me. Unless you don't understand part of the material, a review class is just a waste of time/money. Spend that time working problems instead. I took Transportation and completely left out studying structures, but was actually able to answer structures questions because they involved interpreting charts, etc. that were provided. IMO the PE was easier than the EIT. Lots of plug-and-chug and knowing your way around your reference books was the main differentiator.

I've never been exposed to any of the topics on the Civil PE Exam except for structural (my job). Would a review course be worth it to actually learn the other topics?

Do a lot of problems is the answer as long as you know the fundamental.

it couldn't hurt, but you will need to do a lot of studying on your own. suggest you track down some sample tests with solved example problems and start working as many sample problems as you can. If you haven't started studying the other topics yet, you are way behind the curve.

He has the most comprehensive and best value for the PE review (Civil) in the State. i understand he also now has several DVD's for those out of State. However, if you don't put in 200 hrs of additional time & you don't have Lindeburg's CERM manual, it won't be enough.

Also, unless you are 25 and no family, try not to attempt all 3 exams in one sitting.

Disclaimer: I used to teach the geotechnical review section & I passed the CA survey section using Dr. Mansour's notes.
