I have been using another viewer from Open Cascade CAD Assistant. It is very nice and free, but I can not open CATIA and Solidworks files, but I have plenty of them. They offered to try DMU Reviewer - another software for opening CAD files. It is a paid product and it is good that it offers measuring CAD parts, but I am interested if there any free alternatives? Please, share what you use to open CAD files?

eDrawings viewer is not free and a separate app is needed for CATIA and SolidEdge. I consider a single software to view these both formats, an who knows, may be some other files also. I know Open Cascade for its open-source library and free products. They provided me a trial of DMU Reviewer and I will see how it works. The price is quite reasonable for its feature-set.
By the way, I also downloaded eDrawings and will compare both of them.
Other ideas what else may I try?

Then you had better let Dassault know.

Thank you for choosing eDrawings!
eDrawings is free software that lets you view and print eDrawings(eDRW, ePRT, eASM), native SolidWorks documents (sldprt, sldasm, slddrw) , DXF, and DWG format files.

I tried both DMU Reviewer from Open Cascade and eDrawings. I probably somehow found another eDrawings software which is here and downloaded their trial version. Is it a reseller?

this is the official Dassault product which is free, but a number of supported formats is limited and I am afraid it is not enough for my tasks. I tried edarwings and it is not convenient to manipulate the model as I need to switch among buttons to move/rotate/zoom in and out the model. Plus, measurements are not very intuitive.

With DMU Reviewer it is possible to manipulate the model with the mouse and it really saves time. Plus, measurements are created as soon as edge/face/angle etc are chosen and saved in the model. I need this feature very often and in a minute I can measure about 10-15 items. That is good. Loading speed is also impressive
