Regarding your question on above thread, referred bronze alloys belong to the "Composite Mixtures" family; where the lead has basically three major functions:
1. Reduces coefficient of friction, which is an important property in the absence of lubrication (planned or accidental).
2. Lead absorbs dirt.
3. Conformability. In case of bearings. the lead will allow shape adjustment in situations of poor alignment or vibration.
