Hello, I have a high pressure piston pump that will run LNG at 310 barg and -150°C with an inlet pressure of 7 barg. I was told that at slow speeds it would cavitate. I don't see why slow speeds would cause cavitation as slowing a normal pump down is one of the ways we solve cavitation in other pumps. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Heat leakage through the insulation becomes a problem causing boiling of the LNG at lower flow rates.

In general, piston pumps have high acceleration head requirements and depend on good pulsation suppression on the suction (and discharge) side to work well.
I would selecting a good triplex (at least) plunger for LNG if it is operating close to bubble point. Minimise dependence on pulsation attenuation with pulsation dampeners.

Doesn't seem right but would need more information. Also you need to go back to the source of this information and challenge them to explain
