Hip Roof Design

Can anyone recommend a design guide on how to design a wood framed hip roof.
I've looked but can not find anything. I've considered using trusses but this is too small of a job so I want to stick build it.

I'm not aware of a step by step guide, but it's a pretty straightforward process. What do you know about designing light frame wood roof systems? Do you have a good handle on gable roofs? If so, you're mostly there. The biggest thing is handling the hip rafter thrust. Lay out where your knowledge is and the group can help fill it in.

I would suggest you check the Wood Frame Construction Manual and Details For Conventional Woods Frame Construction (WDC1) along with other publications of the American Wood Council.
