Think you need to provide detailed info re your question. What materials? What conditions? Why do you ask? Etc. etc.

Are you talking of furnace / boiler tubes?

Are you referring to refractory?

Actually, we facing problem for Refractory fall down on external casing of primary reformer and boiler , material is plate carbon steel ( A-36 ) . On those location some we provide steam and some time we provide air . However, some engineers they said 300 C is hot spot and some they said 250 C is hot spot so I want to ask which temperature will decide is hot spot

Thanks & regards

The critical temperature limit of the "hot spot" is based on the metal and refractory material as used in the design of the Reactor. And, it may be specified in the equipment spec and/or O&M manual.

Thermography is a good tool to detect hot spots in cold side of refractory walls, in fournaces, reactors, regenerators and boilers
