If I right click on a balloon that was placed by using the "Auto Balloon" feature, I get the two options, "Group Horizontally..." and "Group Vertically...". However, If I've placed the balloon manually as a single balloon I do not get the grouping options. How do I group balloons that were placed manually?

Thank you,
Trent Paulk

There are no provisions at the moment to 'group' manually create ID balloons.

Agreed. Please contact GTAC have them open an IR. It will get changed to an ER but that's OK as it will add to the list that is already there, one of which is mine.

What about the fact that I can edit a tabular note using a spreadsheet but I can't use spreadsheet to edit a Parts list?

Most of what shows up in a parts list should be automatic text pulled from attributes. A parts list should not require the extensive editing that a spreadsheet would allow.

There is a "workaround" which isn't a true group, but similar.
When you are about to "drop" the balloon on the drawing, IF NX highlights a dashed rectangle around the balloon and another, then drop. ( as seen in the attached image) The Balloons will move together as long as you drag the original one. dragging the "last one" will move it out of the "group".
This function is kind of vaguely documented... The feature is called "stacking" . You can set the stacking distances in the Preferences - Annotation ( set all 4 = 0 if you like the balloons to touch.)
There is no hotkey to activate the stacking, you need to move around until the dashed box appears. ( and the ballon is previewed in the correct position)
When done ( the secondary balloons placed) , you can remove the leader . The balloon is still connected to the partslist.

Tomas

Sorry dirtying the original thread but do not know how to move the separate discussion in a new one.

Anyhow
could you please direct me to the documentation that discusses these automatic texts and how to put them in parts list?

Thank you

Toost,
I tried you work around but couldn't get the box/rectangle to come up. I'm using 8.5.2.3. Which version of NX are you using?
Thanks,
Trent

Expand the "alignment" options in the dialog box and make sure that the "auto alignment" option is set to either associative or non-associative and the "stack annotation" option is turned on.

Still no luck.
