How do you BOLD Lines or Fonts?

Sorry this sounds so stupid, but why doesn't UG display the actual THICKNESSES of Lines and/or Fonts when you select the thicker options in the corresponding EDIT functions?

Are they just for when you plot? I've only been plotting to PDF so far and it doesn't even change thicknesses when I do that. What am I missing?

It would be REALLY nice to be able to SEE the THICKER Lines and/or Fonts ON THE SCREEN.

To get the line thickness settings to display on screen while using UG, goto
Preferences > Visualization
on the Line Tab click the Show Widths check box

I think that answers the main question you posted but I'm not sure how to get the PDF settings to recognize the chosen widths.

Oh yeah... NX2. But I assume the same goes for NX3?

It could be (the same), but it's important to note that NX is going through major changes and assuming that everything is the same in NX3 or NX4 as it is in NX2 could be quite foolish. For example, in NX3 the plotting is completely new.

If the above doesn't work, you have to use Edit Object Display and that dialog will allow you to edit layer, color, line font, line weight/thickness, and other characteristics. You can also set font thicknesses in Drafting by editing the Style properties.

Are you using the "print" function or "plot" when making the PDF. There is a big difference.

The best way I know how to make a PDF file that shows proper line width is to set up a new Plotter. Set it up as a generic ps (post script) plotter and only outputs to a file is post script.

When you make the plot it will ask you for a name and location to save it. Then you need to get you hands on a adobe distiller, or if you already have one, open the file with the distiller and it will make it a PDF that looks just like it would if you plotted it with line widths.
