How to create a spring model?

Hi Hudson, Siwy

I need to create a spring model (both ends 'attach' to says part A and part B) and this spring has to be 'flexible', meaning, if the distance between part A and part B increase or decrease, the length of the spring updates according to the new distance value.

Can we do it in UG NX 5.0?

Jim,

A "deformable component" should take care of this for you.

Once you have your spring modelled, use Tools->Define Deformable Part and then follow the 'wizard'.

Here is an example that should cover pretty much all that you need to know. Note that these files have been savaed in NX 5 and there are 2 assemblies, one using Mating Conditions and the other Assembly Constraints, for whatever mode you're most comfortable with.

To see the action, open the assembly of your choice, and while in the assembly file itself, edit the value of the 'Height' expression. The range of valid values is from 10-14 inches.
