Hello,

I'm working in France on NX 6 since 2 months (I finished my studies in June 2010, and just been learning Catia V5).

I'd like to draw a terminal lug, but I don't know how to do a shape (check the attached file).

Could someone explain me the procedure please ?

Thnak you,

Matthew

Thanks for your answer.

I'm meeting a problem when I use the "through curve mesh".

When I select the first curve, all the circle is selected, whereas I imagine juste a quart is needed. Does the problem come from wrong intersection curve ?

Pay attention to the "selection intent". in your case the option should be "stop ant intersection". and then you will be able to select a quater of circle.

Tnx, i didn't know for this command. Maybe the last problem I have: even if I select a part of the circle, it is not valided on the "select curve" (don't have the green check), what is the problem ?

It's Ok now, I answered to my question; just didn't select the right segments;

thanks for you all.

Why are you using 'Through Curve Mesh' when a simple 'Through Curves' may have actually given you more control over the final shape (as per attached)?

Well,

first, I can't fill the curve (I think we don't have the licence to use the N-sided command ...).

And I tryed with the "through curves", but my lug is assymetric; the results is "strange": there is a sort of helix angle.

Usualy I do not use N-sided surface command. It is much more simple do following:
1. just extrude closed contour with the height 0 ("zero").
or
2. use bounded plane option (Insert->surface->bounded plane).

I prefer to use first option (extrude with zero height).

During lunch break i had some spare time to create a terminal lug. Have look at attached example.
Maybey there are to much features but i got a fairly good result i think.
The trick is to create some extra geometry, the splines, which are tangent to both solids and when creating the through curve mesh also link the sheet tangent (G1) to the solids.

Forgot to comment your "strange" helix angle:
try using proper aligment method. in your case (as John did) you have to use aligment by points, and manualy defint these points. Actually I usually use through curve mesh option, because in some cases aligment by points is pain in the head...

I used the through curves mesh example here as I found it gave me much higer quality output which enabled me to use the shell command using G2 continuity.

Simon is on the right track since people often end up 'over-constraining' their surface when using 'Through Curve Mesh' since you are in essence 'forcing' the shape in ALL directions, whereas with 'Through Curves', the user supplies the profiles and the software does the transitioning which often results in a much more well-behaved and smooth result.

And eex23's correct in that by using the alignment options you have control over the so-called 'twist' of the results as you transition from one profile to another, even if they have a different number and/or shape of segments.

Well it's perfect now ! It's been filled when I used "unite" between the sheet and the 2 others objects. SO I imagine "unite" filled up the shape ?

Thanks for you all, it helps me understanding the differents tools of the program, and not just apply a procedure ^^
