I would like to map different thicknesses on the "skin" of a solid cylindrical part. The thought is to just lay the part out so all of the surface is visible in one view. In other words, an "un-rolled" view. Is this possible in NX 7.5?

Can you provide an example of what this might look like?

imagine peeling the label off a tin can and then laying it flat on a table so you could see the whole label in one view. That's what I want to do with the outside surface of this cylindrical/conical part. In reading across the forum I found Wrap/Unwrap curve. This seems like it should work, since all I need is just the outlines of the surface, but for some odd reason it doesn't recognize the part as cylindrical/conical.

Can you upload the part?

I suspect that the model may have been created using something other than canonical forms (circles/arcs).
