I need to determine what scale I need to determine if an envelop assembly lack one material(on-line check). The envelop assembly weight are (one example):
A 3.53
B 3.016
C 3.124
D 4.83
E 10.293
F 14.322
G 8.103

Total 47.218

What process tolerance I need for my system?(Why?)

What scale accuracy do I need? (Why?)

What are your units of measure, are they all the same?

I would think your accuracy would be equal to your lightest component for detection. Tolerance would be based on that.

I think what you are after is determining if a part has been left out of an assembly by weighing the assembly. First determine the weight of the lightest component. Then calculate the max and min weight for all parts in the assembly. If the difference between the total max and min is greater that the weight of the lightest component, then just by weighing the assembly, you can't determine if a part is missing.
