A pipe contains water at 80 Deg F , pressure inside the system is 15,000 psi, if the pressure has to be released (atmospheric pr), but still needs to be conatined inside a closed chamber before releasing out on ground. How would I achieve this? can someone help.

Open a valve to an empty chamber capable of withstanding the pressure.
Let the flow proceed through a restrictor like the Lee Bender Jet:
Close the valve.
Open another valve that vents the chamber to atmosphere,
and a third valve that drains the chamber.
Let the chamber drain.
Close all valves.
Repeat until the pressure is fully relieved.

The Lee restrictor is rated for up to 5000psi?

Thank you israelkk for catching that.

Ppatel1, Oops. Don't use the stock Lee part.
Do call and ask about a special, reinforced for your pressure.

What I described amounts to a DB&B manifold. It could have a special geometry allowing insertion of interchangeable throttling orifices, or it could have a needle valve or a capillary to do the throttling.

Or, if your valves are sturdy enough and open slowly, maybe you don't need a restrictor other than the valve.

Thanks for the feed back, it does help.

It really depends on how fast you need it depressurized and how much fluid has been raised to that pressure. If it is a joint of 4-inch pipe that you can take an hour to depressurize, then you can use a needle valve and a plastic bucket. If it is a cubic mile of water, that you need to depressurize in 5 minutes, then you might want to get a little more exotic.
