How to specify the side of extrusion while extruding an open profile 2

I am trying to extrude an open profile using the open profile with smart volume option. I want to extrude on the other side of the profile. Please help me

Havent tried 8.5 yet but is there a reverse button you can use in the extrude dialog?

Does it not want to create the extrusion? Check for any gaps where those star icons are by doing a measure.

If you want to extrude on BOTH sides of the profile, enter a negative value for the start distance that is equal to the end distance. If by using a smart volume, you're left without a start/stop value, move your profile to the side where it will not fill in.

Without more details, I'm left with just guesses at this point.

What you do is double-click the magenta arrow, as seen in the image below, which will indicate that you can reverse it when you place your cursor over it:
