Hi,

I have to model the ceiling of a bus in an impact essay in dynamic Explicit. The ceiling has an upper shell of glass fiber composite sticked to an structure of bars that I have modeled with beam elements, and beneath it another shell of plywood. I have tied them with the TIE CONSTRAINT, but it finishes failing. I think that the master surface should be the structure of bars and the two shells should be the slave surfaces, but the shells´ mesh is much more coarse than the bars´, and the tutorial says that that could make it fail. I have read something about using spot welds that do not depend on meshing, but I don´t know how to use them. Coul anybody help me?

Thanks in advance,

Look up "Fastener" in the keywords manual. This is the ABAQUS general term for spotwelds.

Thanks Brad,

That is the point, I don´t know how to use the fastener. What modulus is it in? What do I have to do?
