Hi,

Thanks in advance.

Mandatory Appendix 2

Is anybody can tell me how to determine Hub Length (h), Hub thickness (go & g1)in Fig.2-4 (1) or (3a)?

Thanks again

wei55, I am not aware of any method to "determine" hub dmensions, except to see what effect they have on overall flange design. For example the use of a hub most probably increases the bolt circle diameter over a flange without hub, and may or may not allow the ring portion of a flange to be thinner than with no hub.

However as a practical matter, the use of a hub for a loose type flange usually makes the overall flange (thru the hub) thicker than a flange with no hub and larger diameter as well. If you are fabricating the flange a simple ring such as in Fig (3a) is probably the most economical way to go.

Thank you very much for your quick response. I am sorry I failed to make my question more clear. I am calculating a simple ring flange with neck fillet welded in both sides exactly as Fig.(3a). In this case, go=g1=0, h=0, so ho=0. But how about F/ho or h/ho ? As for g1/go, maybe I can say g1=go, so g1/g0=1, but I am not sure.

Thanks

wei55, sorry for the misunderstanding.

If you do not consider the welds as a hub, factors Vl and Fl are of no interest, see 2-7(b).

If considering the welds as a hub, see the Fig 2-4 (7) for dimensions g0, g1, h and see also general note (c) of Fig 2-4 (Optional Flanges) and 2-7(a). Also see 2-3 Notation.

This should get you there:)

Mike
