Hydrostatic vent and drain

Can anyone tell me the usual arrangement of hydrostatic vents and drains? Like for example, a branch connection that will be a nippolet or reducing tee, and then a nipple or spool piece and then flange connection. I am not sure with it. Please elaborate.
