Hello there,

Please I need your help for forces of chain conveyor,
I'm a structural engineer and I'm supposed to design a steel frame supports
an overhead conveyor for slaughterhouse, and I have the following data:
- Please check attached drawings
-Track force per drive unit max = 2.5 kn
-Peak force at breakdown max = 10 kn

So my questions are as follow:
1-What is the track force?
2-How can I apply the track force on the beams support the conveyor?
3- What is the peak force at breakdown?
4- How can I apply the peak force at breakdown on the beams support the conveyor?
5-Shall I divide the force at breakdown (10 KN) on all beams support the conveyor
or shall I apply the (10 KN) on each single beam supports the conveyor?
6-Shall I divide the track force at (2.5 KN) on all beams group supports the drive
unit, or shall I apply the (2.5 KN) on each single beam of the beams group
supports the drive unit?

Thanks much for your help.

I have designed conveyors before, but neither of those terms are anything I'm familiar with.

Whoever is contracting you to design the building has also contracted someone to install the conveyor (which is probably a design that is already in the can, and has been for a couple of decades).

You need to get ahold of them so they can help you sort this out.
