I need serious help in finding cheaper vendor for Titanium 6246 and grade 5 in the US.

Hello All,

I work for a mechanical engineering firm and often need to machine different size hollow cylinders made from Titanium 6246 and grade 5 ( for high pressure oil and gas).
Our current vendor for these materials offer high lead times and high prices. Can you please suggest me some good and less expensive vendors/suppliers for these two titanium grades. Suppliers who are specialized in machining titanium parts easily and fast.

Fast generally equals not very busy for some reason.

Where are you located? I like to deal with local vendors. There is no substitute for a ten minute drive, or a walk across the street, when there is a problem you need to look at.

I am located in Los Angeles, CA. Honestly, shipping is not a problem here. A vendor anywhere in the USA will be fine. As long as we can save money in machining and material.

Grade 5 titanium is widely available in the US. What is the size of hollow cylinder you require? How many pieces of this raw material do you need? Also, what is your definition of long lead times and high prices for this material form?

What material form do you need? A finished part? Bar stock?

Google AliBaba for Chinese suppliers, which will probably be cheapest.

The important question is what specification you require and what NDT goes along with it.
That will govern who you can deal with.

If you need small quantities you will need to deal with a domestic Ti service center.
