Hi,

I need some sort of a sensor that can tell me whether gases are flowing inside 8mm tube
*gasas such as natural GAS/LPG/Oxygen/AIR
details:
I want to connect the sensor to my computer, and to get signal whether gases is flowing OR not flowing inside 8mm tube.
Ther is no "MUST" knowing the flow rate, Only If its flowing (there is air supply = ON) or not flowing(there is no air supply=OFF)
*NO water flow sensor (only if it works for gases aswell)
Im a student so If u can add Some details or any kind of guidance I Will be thankful!

get a flow orifice meter...or if there's no pressure when there's no gas, then just a pressure meter

Dont know if this will be easier or not - but im guessing you qre looking for a non introucive kind of measurement? In this case temperature might do the trick. It could even be a hand hand optical device (can be bought in a well equipped home improvement store) if you dont need an instrument loop?

A little more: This will only work if the gas is colder (or hottel) than ambient and the point where you will measure is close to the source. It will also have a lag period: initially when cooling/heating the tube and when flow stops and until the pipe has heated up again (or cooled down if the gas is hotter)

Have you done an electronic search for digital gas flow meters or digital sight glasses for gas flows?

There are digital flowmeters which can give you digital output of flow quantity, pressure, density etc. according to your requirement. Manufactures: Idex, Endress&Hausser etc.
