Greetz all,

A customer has just sent me a Ideas .prt file.
no .pkg file just the .prt

Is there a way to activate this part?
I have thought of creating a dummy .pkg file and replacing the file name in it.....

so far no Joy

Can you have him export the Model file to a Universal file and or Archive File? Are you on TDM or Teamcenter? If you are in Teamcenter get the part into teamcenter go to file new dataset then select I-Deas part. Have not tried it myself but could be a good option. Once the part is in teamcenter send the ideas file to I-Deas Through the TCII. I think you can some how do this in TDM but my memory has faded since we went to Teamcenter.

Right now I asked the customer to get a pkg file or a universal file to me. We don't have team center.

Thanks for the reply,

I'll keep working on it.

One thing that may work:

1.-You create a part (a cube, cilinder, whatever you want) and you place it into the library.
2.-Once it is created, you go to the folder where it is stored the *.prt file of this new part. (usually ...in team/shared...) and you delete de prt file or you move it to a different folder
3.-You go to the manage library, click on this part and do a recconnect file, chosing the *.prt that the costumer sent you.

Maybe it will work

Thanks Nibola.

This did get it so I could see the part. Not sure if it's in the correct position in car. But I can check that later.

Thanks again.

Another alternative would have been to use "adopt" within manage libraries. All part numbering/naming and versioning is lost but at least you would see the data.
