I've been thinking about this recently. Not because I am unhappy with engineering, but because so many other things also sound so interesting to me.

I'd like to hear from the rest of you. If you had to pick another career, what would you choose?

Ahoy Daveviking !!! I would also be a viking, as were my ancestors. Care to split up europe peaceably or should we just have a go at it and decide the territories when we meet up?!? Hah!

Wow, a lot of very interesting replies. I had no idea so many engineers harbored dreams of being musicians.

My answers would have to be:

1) Pyschiatrist
2) Photojournalist
3) President ;)

CIA, clandestine ops. That or corporate law, mergers & acquisitions. After the MBA is over (< 2 years), I'll still easily be young enough to consider both.

So why did all of you want to become an engineer rather than a forest ranger, pilot, mattress quality inspector, preacher, president?? Or is it just that we see the light at a relatively late stage in our lives?
