Import Assembly into TC (Function) 1

I want to import a big assembly into TC, but I get following error as logfile, after execute.

The following parts experienced naming failures during name application
These failures may have occurred when applying PDM attributes as well as part names
If in doubt, use the Report function to see what
has not been applied
Input for part revision was invalid. - XX2014_SU_XX_ST_SR Connecting Shaft End Outer Shim

I am assuming you have used the user naming instead of autogenerate?
Anyhow...Teamcenter assumes the underscore to be the revision divider. So in case of the first name it assumes you want to have a revision SU

I used AutoTranslate. Shortterm SU - Suspension

Same issue...

Autotranslate tries to use the part name (from the part you are importing) and apply that in Teamcenter...
Teamcenter thinks the revision needs to be SU...which is not allowed in your environment

You may need to edit the import.clone file to import the data if you wish to keep the underscores in the item ID.

*hmm* but each part name has underscores and there aren't invalid part revisions.

If you create a log file during import this will create an import.clone file which will tell you how it is trying to import each file. It is possible to import files containing underscores as we do here but we create our own import.clone file prior to import.

I think you misunderstand the point...

Teamcenter starts "reading" the partname...It encounters the first underscore and assumes everything behind that is the revision indicator...

SU_XX_ST_SR Connecting Shaft End Outer Shim is not a valid revision in teamcenter.

Parts with underscores in the filename can be imported by modifying the import.clone file for each part. For exaample:-

If this just affects the 3 parts then editing the file shouldn't take too long.

When trying to use the log file option it creates an empty clone file.

You will need to use either the Auto Generate or Auto Translate options. The only way I could get an empty file is use User Number and to cancel when prompted for a name. I presume you are on NX9 or earlier as NX10 makes it much easier to edit Item IDs before importing.

Sadly, we use NX8.5. I tried both options without result (empty file).

I have tried to create an empty clone file in NX8.5 but have not been able to do so. If a part to import is specified, log file name defined and dry run selected then it should create one.
