Hi everybody,

I tried to import in UGNX, DXF and DWG files. I couldn't see anything. The message from cue bar is 'IMPORT TRANSLATION SUBMITTED'.Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks very much in advance!

This will be of no help but I have NEVER been able to get either a DWG or DXF file translated. I have been trying since V11. Simpathy love company is all I can say. The only thing I have done is import it into ProE, export out an IGES and then import the IGES drawing into UG. Silly but it worked.

sometimes ug puts the geometry in invisible layers. Turn all ur layers on and see if you can see anything.

DXF imports into UG usually have the Active1 viiew from Acad. Try to cahnge your view from a UG defined view to the custom defined Active1 view.

Also check that all layers are active.

Set layer settings to show object count and see if there is something. Check both modeling and drafting.

Hi,
I have few possible anwers:
1. In u'r Your system UG translators may not be properly installed. - Just try with reinstalling the translators.
2. If point is ok, then check your model space. Your file may be imported into model space. if so, you can import the same in to another UG file of drafting application.
3. As many suggested check with the layers.
Best regards,

Try importing to a 'new' file rather than the 'existing' one you have open. Give it a name and when you open it you should see the 'dxf' or 'dwg' file in the modelling view.

NOTE & DISCLAIMER: this is probably not the official way of getting this to work and any system loss or damage of any kind is your responsibility.

1. Check to see if the translation software is installed. This will be in a directory, usually on C:, called ..\ugs\dxfdwg. If that directory doesn't exist, then you won't be able to import anything.

2. If this directory does exist, see if there is a file called dxfdwg.exe. If using MS Windows, double click on this file. If there are any dll files missing it will say so and you should be able to copy them into the dxfdwg folder. Once you have all the files you require, no more error messages will appear.

3. Copy the dxf or dwg file into the dxfdwg folder and then open a DOS window. Find your way to the dxfdwg folder in DOS (!) and to translate the first file, test.dxf, for example, type the following:

dxfdwg i=test.dxf o=test.prt l=test.log d=dxfdwg.def <Enter>

4. If works correctly, then the screen will fill up with a load of full stops and notify you of any errors or a successful translation.

5. Open the part in UG and select: File > Import > Part... > <OK> > <Import from OS>

A browser window will appear; navigate to where the translated file is stored, highlight it and press <OK>.

Reset co-ordinates to (0,0,0) both in absolute and WCS systems and press <OK>.

Your drawing should appear.
