Hi! I currently have an O-ring made using an FKM 80 Sh A compound that I would like to improve the:
1) Tensile strength
2) Abrasion resistance.

When tested on a universal tensile tester against a competitor's O-ring:

* Competitor's (Black) FKM O-ring: 14 MPA / 190%
* My FKM O-ring: 9 MPA / 240%
* The competitor's FKM O-ring also had superior abrasion resistance.

I would like to get closer to my competitor's O-ring and would like some suggestions as to what type(s) of filler to use, the respective loading of those fillers, etc.

Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

In my limited experience medium thermal black is the most commonly used black in FKM. Probably not the best for resisting abrasion. HAF comes to mind, as does silica if the compound is non black. But I agree with Tom. Go to a supplier
