I am looking for any biographical information anyone has about Maurice Walmer, P.E. I use his "Manual of Structural Design and Engineering Solutions" almost daily and see it referenced by many authors. I would just like to know more about him.

Thanks.

I bought his book in 1977 (4th printing) and have used it many times. Unfortunately, it's very out of date today. Is there an updated version of the book? You are the only other person I know of who has the manual.

My manual is from 1975 (3rd printing). As far as I know your manual was the last printing. Amazon had copies for sale, but it is now out of print and unavailable. I find the manual to be very straight foward and practical. As noted in the text the calculations are based on AISC ASD. And although the information is somewhat dated it is still very useful.

Thanks for your response.

Check by doing an internet search for Maurice Wilmer Engineering Book - I don't remember site but there is a university in UK that uses his book in their course. Maybe they can help you find latest version, etc.

Thanks for the help. I am also interested in whatever biographical information I can get on the author.
