Hello, All

I am working IR(infra Red)heater installation with heater starter on site. Electrical drawing provide one circuit for two IR heater with starter. It seems that starter was composed of timer, thermostat controller, contact relay and others. As each IR starter require own starter, so that incoming circuit to connect splitter, after splitter connected two fused disconnect switch for each IR starter.

Question, does it make sense two disconnect switch are fed on a circuit ?

Hi! Yes, it makes sense to have two disconnect switches fed on a circuit in your scenario, as you want to provide separate control and isolation for each IR heater. This allows you to safely turn off the power to one heater without affecting the other, and also allows for individual control of each heater's temperature or timing, as specified by its thermostat or timer.

Having separate fused disconnect switches for each heater ensures that in case of a fault or failure in one of the heaters, the circuit breaker or fuse can quickly and safely disconnect the power to that heater, without affecting the other one. This is an important safety consideration and it is a common practice to have separate disconnect switches for each load in an electrical system.

Another way to look at it: how would you feel if all you had to do was pull ANY one door handle to open EVERY door (including the trunk and hood) on your vehicle? Having a separate means of disconnect is a good thing.
