Can anyone tell me if it is possible to add a drawing template to a sheet that already contains drawing information (views, dimensions, text)? I am using UG18.

Thanks

Drawing Templates don't exist in V18.

Do you mean a drawing border/titleblock? These can be added to any drawing from Format-Pattern-Retrieve Pattern.

Yes, titleblock that was what I was looking for. Thanks Ben.

Firstly you must create drawing border/titleblock in drafting application and save as a part file.

Secondly you can import it whenever you are in drafting
application but make sure create a new drawing.

Can someone kindly explain the steps to create a border/title block from scratch? I am confused about whether one does this in the Modelling or Drafting application. If someone can either 1. point me to where this is explained in the help or CAST (I've looked, unsuccesfully) or 2. outline briefly the steps required, I would be grateful...

You create the format in modeling. There is one provided in NX, I'm not sure about earlier versions.
To add text, you need to be in the drafting module, with "Display Sheet" untoggled. This allows you to place annotations in the model view.
As far as the applicable drawing sheet dimensions, etc, you need to refer to the appropriate standards.
When you save the file, make sure that File -> Options -> Save Options has the Pattern Data Only bullet checked.

ewh,
thank you, thank you!
your advice worked great (the key was knowing to un-toggle "Display Sheet" via Application:Drafting > View > Display Sheet) Once that was done, it allowed me to add annotations to the sheet format I created in the Modeling Application. I'm giving you a star b/c I am pretty happy about this little piece of info.

I don't know why, but I couldn't find that little detail in the Documentation, anywhere...

Now, I have another question: The ISO standard width for A3 paper is 420mm (height=297mm), but the actual value taking should mathematically be: height x sqrt(2) = 420.0214 Should I just set the sheet to be 420. without making the width a formula?

Yes, build your sheets to the standards as published.

"Wildfires are dangerous, hard to control, and economically catastrophic."
"Fixed in the next release" should replace "Product First" as the PTC slogan.
