I am working on a project and i need your ideas/ help

on a 12 volt van, i have some equipments which they need to be powered by 24 vdc (about 30A) in the same time i should have a two 12vdc batteries in series to generate the 24 v as a powerpack in case of turning off the engine!

I had installed a 12 - 24 vdc converter in which it is operated by the car bettery.

is there any possible way to make the equipments to turn on (smootly)to the external powerpack in case of turning the engine off?

is it possible to charge the external batteries from the car alternator?

thanking you!

Far from being any kind of expert in this area - I do know you are looking at a heap of problems - from switches to relays, lights, horns, computers, fuses, wire sizes, etc.

Why not add a 24V independent system to do only those things that need 24V. I think you could charge two 12V batteries by using a charging circuit hooked in parallel to the batteries - not sure about how you go about doing that if they are already hooked in series for load use.

Good Luck

Just add a completely independent 24V system, charged by a 24V alternator.

I thought about 24 V system, but there is no place for additional alternator at the motor side!

You can get alternators that have dual 12/24 volt charging systems. They are very commonly used on Fire trucks and ambulances. Go for one of those.

Google Niehoff and see what they have to offer. They aren't the only ones who make such equipment, just the only ones I can get to pop into my mind right now.
