Insulation on Aircraft

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone out there has used SILAMID for insulating narrow body aircraft? I might be spelling it wrong, but if you have, what can you tell me about it in terms of material specifications, weight, flammability, etc.? Did it save you weight compared to other insulation?

I am also curious what newer forms of insulation are coming out an being used.

Solimide is neat stuff. Expensive though.

WKTaylor , sorry yes, I am talking about Solimide. I have been told by some insulation providers that a lot of people use Solimide but that Solimide or Polyimide foam is used in the bagged insulation blankets by some suppliers who do really not understand the concept of insulation. The use of such foam is really not that effective thermally or acoustically.

But i would like to know what expereince people have with the product and what came out of your experience with Polyimide?

I purchased some for use as a handle-able insulation for a high-temperature calibrator (over 250 F), it worked pretty well and held up over several years of fairly abusive handling by shop techs.
