Regarding two or more interrupted, coplanar surfaces like in figure 8-15 – see attached: My understanding over the years is that the extension lines between the four surfaces do not “connect” them. This is consistent with figure 8-15 where datums A and B are shown to single-out two of the four features as datums. Para 8.4.1.1 defines how to make them coplanar. This assumes they are NOT to be interpreted as “connected”(in which case they would be coplanar by default). But where in Y14.5 does is state that extension lines are NOT to be interpreted a creating a single uninterrupted surface. And more specifically: where does Y14.5 state extension lines between interrupted surfaces are NOT to be interpreted as a creating single datum feature when a datum symbol is applied.
The Continuous Feature concept symbol <CF> alludes to this but does not answer my question.
