Inventor for Modlling fluid power systems - Any advice ?

We recently bought inventor to expand the design capabilities of the company.

I was just wondering if someone else is using the same program to create soild models of hydraulic components such as fittings, valves, catridge valves, manifolds, cylinders, motors, pumps etc ..

Any weblinks where i can download the soild models for hydraulic components or any reccomended practices that i can use to create dummy models of these components reperseting their dimensions etc.

Any help would be much apprecaited.

sdotson.com has a parts repository that contains some hydraulic parts.

cbliss.com has some hydraulic fittings...no metric ones though.

May be if someone can put some light on the best way on modelling hydraulic components in inventor, would be really help.

As most manufacturers specifies a couple of dimensions which changes with the model of the component, i was just wondering what is the best way to set up the basic model for a given series of a component.

This practice then can be applied to probably 80-90% of the components we generlaly use in day to day design activities.


Any help would be much apprecaited.

If you know how to use Iparts, most hydraulic fittings would be really easy to model.

If you go to Parker.com...head for the InPhorm section and download the hose and fittings program, you can use that to create detailed CAD drawings of most styles and sizes of fittings.

You can then use the data from the CAD drawing to create a editable table in the Ipart and then change the required sizes.

Once again, thanks for that advice Hydromech...i would certainly look in to that,,,the only reason why i created this post is to gain opinion from people who have been using inventor for modelling fluid power components....i am new to using inventor and so is rest of my colleauges....so i really didint wanna re-invent the wheel in terms of modelling the parts ...


But i guess you have pointed me out in the right direction and now i can explore that option in detail....thanks once again for your time and help.
