Has anyone had any experience with an installed IR monitoring system (Like Exertherm). The concept seems great, I just have not spoken to anyone who has a system installed.

Any problems encountered?

Is it worth the initial investment compared to annual IR scanning?

As in imaging IR?

If you do, be prepared to do maintenance on the camera about once a year. The cryocoolers for the high-end systems are only rated for about 10,000 hrs of life.

Now an uncooled bolometer camera might be a better choice, as there is no mechanical wearout failure.

No, these are permantly mounted IR sensors that can send data to a computer or SCADA system if a high temp (Delta T) condition occurs.

Apparantly they are popular in the UK and are just hitting the market in the US.
