Is a concrete double tee just two single tee's combined?

I know it sounds funny but can I just analyze a precast double tee system as a single tee x2? The reason I'm asking is Enercalc only has the capability to analyize a single tee section and I just want to make sure there's not something I'm missing.

Thank you!

I have no idea for the analysis methods of Enercalc . I would prefer to combine the two webs and obtain an equivalent single tee or user defined beam having properties of double tee.

@lexpatrie not that I've been able to find so far. 4' wide, 12" web 2" flange tee.

Sounds like an odd shape if it is not one of the standards.

Is this a new double tee or old/existing?

There are some 4 ft wide sections in the 1st edition of the PCI Handbook from the link Brad posted above.

You’re better off analyzing by hand. Start with what lexpatrie linked.

The prestressing significantly changes the behavior of the beam. Precast members are highly optimized; don’t black-box yourself into a corner. I wouldn’t touch it without existing drawings or some other way to be sure of its capacity.

My prestressed concrete professor would say things like, “prestress losses are a wild-ass guess rounded to 3 sig figs.” That’s how “confident” (/s, if not obvious) the original design is. You really wanna start making software assumptions on the back end?
