No, it's not.

You could become a senior inventory analyst.

No, there won't be.

I actually enjoyed queue theory as a student. Isn't this related? Using maths and stats to organise and plan inventory. Or maybe it's just glorified warehouse stuff.

It sounds like an industrial engineer career path. That being said, there is much work in Lean Manufacturing, product flow, shipping logistics, etc. that could come from your current path. The key to these things is to get the necessary certifications and skills to make that happen.

In the end, if it isn't something you want to do for a career, it might be time to think of a way to shift into something you do want to do.

Money can be made/careers built in such fields but, is it what you're interested in?

Posting guidelines faq731-376 (probably not aimed specifically at you)

When I hear "Inventory Analyst" I think of the guy I need to call when I am looking for parts for a special test.

And the guy looking is always bitching that the price is too high and the delivery too long. Let's not even look at quality control.....

Not my cup of tea...

thank you all for helping me with your valuable time and comments
SWcomposites in reality i will have to look at inventory levels regularly and monitor if something going wrong in ordering system

sundeeprastogi, companies sometimes (at least used to) assign new engineers to different departments temporarily, to give them a chance to learn the business. Could your position be one such?

Six months sounds like a long time, though.

Mike
