It is enough to check a material certificate according to NACEif you don't have it mentioned? 1

Hello,

I am checking the material certificates for some topside application parts.
Some have the NACE standard mentioned on it, some don't.
I checked the ones that don't with the NACE standard, and they seem to comply, but is this enough?

Seem to comply - with what? Is this enough - what requirements does your project set? Is NACE a requirement? If so, did yopu (and how!) specify this to the supplier
How did you order the materials? If you require gold, but order rubber, you're the one to blame, not the supplier.
Too little info here.

The parts are on stock, they are not destined to a project. At least not yet.
The standard requirement includes NACE, but this is missing from the certificate.

Thus is the background.

As far as I know, as long as you verify that the material complies with MR01-75, there is no requirement that a reference to NACE be on the MTR.

Is it carbon steel parts that mention NACE, while 316 stainless steel parts do not?

Since the end user is responsible for ensuring that the environmental conditions are suitable for the material, and the manufacturer has no control over the environmental restrictions that ISO 15156 imposes on materials, it is not possible for a manufacturer to "certify to NACE." It is for the end user to check the inspection documents and confirm that the materials requirements for the envisaged environmental exposure have been satisfied, which is what appears to have been done in this case.
