Joggles with composite structures

How do you folks make a joggle with composite materials in CATIA?

What I have so far are surfaces defining an airplane wing's leading edge. I've split the surface into two parts, top and bottom. I've set up the layup on the top half already. On the bottom half, that's where I need to create a joggle so the top and bottom skins and fit together and be bonded at that joggle.

Any ideas on a good way to make a joggle when 1) the OML surface is known and 2) one part (the one without a joggle) is made and it's thickness is known?

The brown surface is the top skin and is made of a different surface than the bottom skin. I want to make a joggle at the area where the two surfaces meet.

As far as I know, in CATIA composites haven't any automatic joggle features (like aerospace sheet metal joogle command). So you need to buid the joogle manually or by a custom made powerfeature. This is an interesting functionality i was asked by a client few weeks ago, but I have still to build up a solution.

just create a master surface as you want it to be and then switch to composites. composite workbench not designed for sheet metal features.

Hi,

In every company I was, this kind of parts are done in 3 components (upper, lower and leading edge itself) so in fact there are two joggles done where leading edge is meeting the lower part or upper part. How is done depend in my opinion how you decide to assemble or disassemble those parts (take in consideration other functionalities or simple repair process, I saw a lot of parts coming to workshops for different reasons...).
