Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know how much of heat can be extracted out through kitchen hood?

E.g: My kitchen have 100kW equipment, my kitchen hood is 10,000 lps. If I were to design air-conditioning system in my kitchen, how much kW should I consider from the equipment?

Thank you.

I believe that the make up air system on the hood should match the exhaust air volume.

ASHRAE Fundamentals Ch 18 Nonresidential Cooling and Heating Load Calculations

has something on this, look at tables 5a,b,c in the 2013 version

knowledge is power

Often accepted practice is heat generated by equipment under hood (i.e. fryer, grille, oven) is extractewith the hood exaust air. That said, I've felt the radiated energy and I'm sure another will comment. Please note kitchens are not expected to maintain normal comfort conditions. Direct make-up to hood is typically heated only and is accepted as 100% captured by the hood.
