On a Floway 15 hp vertical turbine pump, is there a lantern ring needed with the gland packing? If so, what is the sequence?
If a stud used for the packing gland adjustments come out, how do you ensure you have it properly back in place?

question 1, maybe, only you or the supplier would know the answer.
question 2, please explain sequence
question 3, re stud - if it comes out get someone experienced to put it back where it came from.

If you need to ask these questions it would seem that an experienced person is required to help you.

It is a capital mistake to theorise before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. (Sherlock Holmes - A Scandal in Bohemia.)

If there is a lantern ring in the stuffing box, It must be at the position where the injection point is located.

This areas Floway Rep is not helping me with any specs on this pump. I need to know what the sequence of the packing glands and lantern ring are inside the packing box. Or even the type of glands or lantern ring makeup. Is the packing sequence ie. 11+111 or 1+111? Is the ring a 2 or 4 piece ring?

While trying to remove the nut from the packing gland stud in the stuffing box, the nut is turning with the stud. What is needed to correct this issue? Remove it and glands, look for lantern ring sequence, reset new stud and nut and repack in correct sequence?

Also from previous post,If no lantern ring found, remove grease fitting and install plug?

Forget about trying to figure out the sequence; people have argued for years whether or not it should be 3,LR,2 or 2,LR 3....that is not what is critical. What IS critical is what Pumpsonly said, just get the lantern ring under the grease/water fitting.

As far as the stud goes....get a new one and turn it to the right until it stops.
