Hello,
I am trying to model a structure in which one of the components is a plane rectangular thin skin. A pressure load (wind action) is applied along the surface of the skin. The problem is that my simulations do not converge when the parameters of the model correspond to a case in which large out-of-plane displacements would occur in the skin (i.e., when I use a low thickness for the skin). Ideally, the skin should be modelled as a membrane, but I tried shell elements too. I am using nlgeom steps, and tried all kind of elements and configurations. Could anybody advise me regarding shells or membranes with large out-of-plane displacements?
