Just a notice, tip, or a warning for those who use an older Quadro like mine (FX3400).

I use Windows7 x64 and Quadro FX3400 on SonicView VA2413wm. The current working nVidia driver is version 197.90 Works perfectly. Downloaded the latest (next) version 258.49 WHQL and that one crashed the monitor drivers completely, so that Windows didn't even knew that I have a monitor. I tried to re-install the monitor drivers, but nothing helped except for restoring the system to the previous state. So, be careful if you have a similar set-up. There's a good chance you might run into serious problems. It would probably work fine with newer GPUs.

The latest and greatest isn't always the best.

Having said that, did you try installing newer monitor drivers?

CBL, I do have the latest SV drivers, and checked, nothing newer was released after 2008 when these came out. I think that the difference in the maximum supported resolution has to do something with the crash. The monitor tops out at 1920x1080, the 197.90 Quadro driver without monitor drivers offers 1600+ resolution as max, and the latest Quadro driver offered resolutions above 2000 pixels. Since that 2k+ resolution would not be possible to apply, it was not possible to combine both. Again, I must stress out that this happened with my hardware/software, does not mean it would be a problem to some other configs/setups. Returning to previous state with system restore deleted several Windows and Adobe updates as well, my desktop background and probably some less important things, but nothing important was affected. Windows 7, unlike XP has no option to create a custom restore point which is a minus in my opinion, but, so far the most reliable and best Windows OS so far, and I've been through most of them since Windows 3.11 for Workgroups (even though that wasn't even an OS)
One of the good things with Win7 is it's capability to work with a completely new set of hardware without collapsing, the downside is that the default (MS signed) drivers for Quadro are actually completely useless and it was a struggle to force these onto the system. Went through loss of monitor drivers in the process of installing nVidia drivers over MS drivers as well, but only from safe mode, because MS drivers wouldn't budge. The latest, 258 version lead to complete collapsing...
