Just a dumb question our system-administrator can't answer: Is a license needed to execute GRIP? I know it is needed for compiling but for executing I have no clue.

By my humble knowing the answer is no, if you have a valid NX license then you can execute GRIP programs. Unless the program is trying to make changes to your system folders (unlikely) it should be no problem.

After digging deeper it seems that you, Phillpd, are right and licenses are indeed needed to run Grip programs. This really is a bummer but that's life.

Thanks to you both for the replies.

Contact your Siemens PLM sales office as you should be able to get licenses added to your configuration. Note that while we no longer charge for execute licenses, they are not automatically added to an existing configuration without requesting it first.

Dear John,

Thank you very much for this answer. I've notified my boss and told him to start calling.

OT: Do I need to close this thread?
