Hi All,

Before posting this I looked everywhere for an answer, but nope...Some hints, it might be a corrupt license, but I am not sure. So here it is:
I am having troubles running NX7.5 on 1 of my workstations. I have 2 workstations running NX6 (before that NX2, NX4), academic bundle. Never had any problems. I installed NX7.5 on one machine, and both NX 6 and NX7.5 run smoothly. I then installed NX7.5 on the other machine, but got a license error. In my log file I find something like the message "Server license is older than the client" (not sure about the exact phrase, other workstation is not available now).
So I tried lmtools and found (server status) license server up, v11.6, ugslmd up v10.8… Strange thing is NX 6 still runs. I tried several options, like replacing the ugslmd.exe by a newer one, installing the latest license software, pointing to an older license file.
Sometimes NX6 runs, sometimes not, but NX7.5 never.

I compared the licensing versions and file dates to the machine that runs fine and they seem to be exacly the same now.
I am not sure if I installed the latest licensing on the machine that runs both NX6 and NX7.5. I think I did not.So, I re-installed all UGS software (NX6, NX7.5 and ugs licensing (NX6 base dvd, NOT NX7.5): did not work.

Hope someone can help me….

It almost always makes the best sense to call your local support office in confronting licensing problems.

NX7.5 requires a new license and the removal of the old licensing service & installing the new one.

From the release notes:
NX 7.5 requires and tests for the latest version of the ugslmd vendor daemon. This vendor daemon is supplied with NX 7.5 and must be installed and initiated prior to the execution of NX 7.5. If an older daemon is utilized, a generic NX License Error dialog is displayed during start-up. In addition, the syslog will contain an error message that the daemon version is older than the client.

look to the doc's
nx7.5 needs the new vendor license client provided with the software at the license server. since nx7.5 nx checks the vendor deaemon version

had a similar problem ...

nx6 installed the complete software + license

and the nx7.5 I just created a service on the flex and ran smoothly nx7.5

is a difference between flex

nx6 the manufacturer and macrovision
and nx7.5 and Acresso

I personally prefer to the Macrovision

at least it worked ..

Ok. I removed all UGS products again, then installed nx6, nx7.5 and last ugs licensing. NX7.5 does not run...

When I tell LMTOOLS to use :\Program Files\UGS\NX 6.0\UGFLEXLM\lmgrd.exe at least NX6 works fine.
If I use C:\Program Files\UGS\UGSLicensing\lmgrd.exe both versions won't run...
I'll contact my local support office....

But, maybe I have another option: This workstation is a dualboot machine, running xp and win7. If I use win7, should I get a new composite host ID and let UGS sent me a new license file?

It's NOT NX which must be reinstalled, but rather the latest version the license server software which must be reinstalled. You will find this software on the GTAC in the 'product update' section under 'Siemens PLM Common Licensing Toolkit'.

If you're not serving your license from your own workstation, but rather from a common server, this is where this new license software needs to be installed.
