hi

is there any standard procedure for lifting/tailing lug calculations?
for example what are the coefficients for the forces projction on X-Y cordination or what is the coefficient for bending stress due to horizontal projected force?

thanks

Hi!

Almost all calculations I have seen are based on Pressure Vessel Design Manual by Denis Moss. If you can manage to get a copy a simple method is shown for calculating loads during erection on lifting/tailing lugs and for sizing welds, pin holes, etc.

"Non-flammable" is not a challenge

Dear Inflames

I have Dennis Moss book (second edition). In this book there is a toppic for designing of Lug "SUPPORT" but i could not find anything related to "LIFTING" lug calculation.

thank you for your kind attention

Arash,

Try third edition, chapter seven deals with erection of pressure vessels, you will found it there.

Sorry about no having mentioned edition before ;)
