Hi all

I am wondering if we can we do local stress calc. for the attachemnt welded inside the shell per WRC 107 "local stress in spherical & cylinderical shell due to external loads". Calc is to be run for the bed support beam clip welded to I.D of shell. I have found that this bulletin addresses the attachment to the outer surface of shell only. Pls Suggest. Thanks.

I think as far as the theory goes in WRC 107, it wouldn't actually make any difference if the attachment was inside or outside, if that's what you're asking. Assuming you can keep the signs straight, that is.

Similarly with WRC 297.

I agree with JStephen. FEA not necessary. Just watch for the signs.

In my previous project, I referred to Chapter 2 (Procedure 2-13) of "Pressure Vessel Design Manual" by Dennis Moss.

Is this the same result to WRC 107? Please comment.
