My question has to do with the holding force of locking tapers such as Morse and Browne & Sharp; i.e. how can I predict the force required to disassemble a taper assembly by pulling only? Is there a formula/data (theoretical or empirical) that relates the variables (angle, modulus, surface finish, coef. of friction, insertion force, etc.) to the force required to disassemble the joint?
