Hi Everyone,

Hope we are all well, i'm hoping someone can assist or even point me in the right direction to find the correct type of organisation.

We have a "Concept" design for a new fixing bracket for our survey equipment and we are looking to involve the skills of an Engineering Design team (i think that who we are after) to design/validate the concept, I have no existing contacts within this field, so this is a new proposal for us.

We have a local engineering firm which can do the manufacturer (if suggestions are for design only), but they would require detailed design drawings to operate/manufacture from.

Can anyone recommend a firm as near to Glasgow as possible who we can make initial enquires with?

Many thanks in advance for any assistance.

Regards

Gary

hi,

Google Design Engineers and you get a few in Glasgow. You could try the University.

If you can go as far as Durham, from personal experience, these folk are excellent engineering designers: Redfox CAD, CAM & Design Services Ltd.

Politicians like to panic, they need activity. It is their substitute for achievement.

As stated above local university mechanical engineering department can even assist you with the design although there could be a contract requirement which would entitle the local university a percentage of the profit which is fair enough.

If Glasgow is anything like most cities of that size in the US, there are probably lots of machine shops that will build custom machinery and fixtures from a detailed drawing. Most of them exist on the business provided by local manufacturers that need custom equipment for their own purposes. Find one or two of the largest shops, describe your situation, and ask them if they could recommend someone local that could take your idea and make official engineering drawings that could then be used to manufacture it.

I have been a machine design engineer for a long time. Most of my of my outside work has come as references from the shops that build the equipment I have designed. They know my work and have recommended me to individuals like you that come in and ask for help.

Hi Gary,

I can do this for you. Doing mechanical engineering in 3d cad as well as FEA simulation and detailing for production. Based in the Netherlands.
Using dropbox or wetransfer cooperation with Scotland is no problem.

You could search for design engineers in Glasgow on Linkedin? It comes up with people and companies.
I think you need to connect with the engineers before you can send them a message.
