We require all our thread callouts on drawings to indicate the associated P.D. and M.D. per the Machinery's Handbook. Currently this is just a manual note we add to the callout. Anyone know of any way to automate this so it is associative??

Perhaps that can be an attribute in the hole standards tables that can be added to the callout so it automatically populates with he correct info based on the thread size? We use ST8.

What drawing standards do you work to, I just ask because what you are saying contravenes ASME B1.1 standard practice for unified threads (expect 'specials').

Unless things have changed, by default the hole modeled in 3D matches the value in holes.txt for minor diameter or something like that.

Posting guidelines faq731-376 (probably not aimed specifically at you)
What is Engineering anyway: faq1088-1484

What is P.D. and M.D.? Pitch diameter and major or major diameter?
And I agree with Kenat. You should only need to call out the Thread size and pitch and possibly depth.
In other words, only what you want in the delivered part, not the process to get there.

I agree but our company standards require us to indicate all the thread info on the drawing including pitch diameter and major or major diameter.
